I wrote Gargamel with the small hope of cheering up my friend who had just lost his cat. Originally titled "Dingle-Berry" the song portrays our undying love for this handsome feline despite the little nuggets that would stick to the long hair of his hindquarters in the confines of his covered litter box. I always envisioned it opening an album in tribute to the Violent Femmes "Old Mother Reagan" which opens "Blind Leading the Naked" (one of the greatest records of all time) in just 29 seconds. Five years later it finally found a home, beating "Old Mother Reagan" with the triumphant running time of 27 seconds.
